Re: Gibbs can't retire just yet
This statement is just plain CRAZY! He will come back regardless if they make the playoffs. No way Danny fires him, it would be mutiny to fire the greatest coach in Redskin history and certainly he will not quit. Quit is not in Gibbs blood.

Re: Gibbs can't retire just yet
Danny wont fire him (he doesnt have the balls) but they will reach an agreement where Gibbs steps aside.

Re: Gibbs can't retire just yet
This is what I think personally will happen. I just see him stepping down, which really sucks cause I feel like we are just a year away. I don't want to start over with a new coach, with new personnel, etc.

Re: Gibbs can't retire just yet
With the way JC is coming along, I think Gibbs is going to want to stick around for another season regardless of what happens with the rest of this year.

If Gibbs is not the coach next year, you can be sure he was fired. Gibbs seems like the person who would honor his word let alone a contract. |

Re: Gibbs can't retire just yet
Even if Gibbs stays around for 1 more year he's gone the year after that and its start over time again. I really hope the Skin's next head coach is less than 60 years old. Actually I'd like to see him be younger than 40.

I am not advocating that Gibbs and Saunders collaboratively run the offense - that has been and would be disastrous as you point out. Would be great if we could have a cardboard cut-out of Gibbs on the sideline to keep coaching egos in check and turn over 4th and 1 type decisions to Saunders. |

Re: Gibbs can't retire just yet
I really think if Joe retires after this year that we should get another head coach. I don't think that Gregg Williams or Al Saunders would make a good head coaches. I'm not sure who is out there to coach but I think we could find someone better than one of our coordinators.
As for the play calling. I would like to see Saunders start to take over. He is the offensive "genius" with the 700 page playbook. Why not let him take over the duty? |

While all of us no doubt want him to win another Super Bowl with Gibbs at HC, imagine if we won it with say Bruce Arians at HC and could say the team key players on the team (Campbell, Portis, Heyer, Montgomery, Blades, Landry, etc) was put together by Joe Gibbs, President. But anyway, he should do what he wants. He's entitled to that.
