Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
Wow i thought we were stupid for offering a first and a third for Johnson. But three picks in this draft for a good DE. Its not like there dline was terrible. Doesnt the Vikings have more pressing needs then a DE, i dont know like OL, WR, and QB??

As for the draft implications, I'm not sure if it affects us at all. With Allen's departure, isn't there a good chance KC will use that extra first rounder to find his replacement? Who is the "#3 DE" in KC? |

At least the Redskins are trading for an area they need to improve. I mean unless the Vikings are giving up on their offense and become the 2000 Ravens

Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
Way too much to give up for Allen. Very good player, but 3 picks and that huge contract to add to a defense that was already pretty good? Don't they have some other glaring needs on offense?
I wonder how Vikings fans feel about it. I can only imagine if the Skins were involved in this deal. The collective fanbase would be on life support today. |

Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
Minnesota was poised to take a DE in the 2nd or first round
This means that a DE is likely to fall to us in the first or 2nd round

6 years, $74 million. $31 million guaranteed. Just keep him away from the bar

Wow, I'd string Vinny up if he made a trade like that. Glad it wasn't us!

Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
I'm guessing there's probably not much to do in Minnesota especially in those cold winter months other than to tie one on. My money is on Allen getting tanked one night and getting pulled over and this trade will look even more dumb.

Wow, that's some serious juice. Good luck, Vikes - that's going to be a helluva sex cruise this year with Allen picking up part of the tab.

Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
If he can stay away from the drinks it won't be so bad. And besides, some of his KC teammates said he already stopped drinking, I believe one of them was the fullback. If he's quit drinking than good for him.
I think that even though they gave up too much for him this could be a good trade for the Vikings. They wanted to get a DE because they weren't getting any pressure on the quarterback, and as you may or may not know their pass defense has been dead last these last two seasons. One way to fix that is to get guys who can pass rush the quarterback. It might not matter if you have two good corners as long as you are getting pressure. What happens when you have two good corners but no pressure? Denver is the prime example. The Vikings may have given up too much but that's the way it is in today's NFL.

BTW, I was on the side of getting him but a 1 and two 3's is too much. Also, why gaurantee him anything? He's one Jared Juice away from a year-long suspension. Is there a morality clause? As for the Vikes offensive woes, they keep saying Jackson is their QB of now and the future. Peterson will have to carry the load until they realize he isn't.
