THERE IS NO PRICE IF THERE IS NO CAP!!!

Do I need to start an informational thread on the salary cap and why its days are numbered?
Don't do anything rash LOL... i think it's hard for folks to believe there won't be a cap again. That's all.

i assure you, 2010 will be the only year without a cap. it will be back in 2011, which is why we would be wise to refrain from making any huge signings now.

Ask The Commish.com - Capanomics 101

Quote:
Basically, through the CBA the parties have realized that the goal of the players and the management should be the same—increasing the revenue pie instead of fighting over the existing amount—and the NFL has tailored the CBA to achieve that end.

The NFLPA was rewarded with the concept of Free Agency, whereby players have the freedom to market their skills after a specific period of service. As a system of checks and balances, the owners sought a means of cutting back on the escalation of the players' salaries. This is accomplished by -- you guessed it -- the NFL Salary Cap.
So if the CBA expires, player salaries will escalate faster though player movement between teams will be more limited. The players, like anyone else, will think with their wallets first. Especially now that Gene Upshaw is gone.

I posted about this in another thread and i disagree with you that thats what would happen. No salary cap means no salary floor. So players on low-market teams would be grossly underpaid. Also, considering how bad the economy is, i dont think salaries will continue to escellate as it has been in the past. within a year, both owners and players will work out something new.

If the CBA goes away for good, then sure, sign haynesworth for all i care. its snyders money. Haynesworth is an upgrade to our DL... but we shouldnt expect much out of him. I dont expect him to average more than 13 games a season over the duration of his time here or more than 4 sacks/year. he'll be cut within 4 years.

As for 2009, id rather have Jason Taylor AND chris Canty for my 16M than one Albert haynesworth.

And I responded to you in that thread and in this one on that very subject, but apparently that response is getting ignored. If you want to debate it seriously, let me know. But start by reading my points.
