Without a doubt, offenses in both college and the pros are going through an evolution of sorts. Glad to see Shanahan is on to this, apparently looking to incorporate new ideas into his offense. You also have to wonder if his study of the Florida Gators means anything with regard to the possibility of drafting Tim Tebow. Shanny's been known to take chances and go against conventional wisdom -- sometimes to his detriment.

In any case, it'll be nice to see creative, innovative offense in Washington again.
I think his visit had more to do with learning about the spread offense/hanging out in Gainesville with Urban Meyer than scouting Tebow. I'm a huge Gator fan, but my whole draft strategy is based on the presumption that 2010 will NOT be a "rebuilding year," but rather legitimate competition for the NFC East. We can always rebuild in 2011. I mean, even if we go 8-8 this season, it's not like Dan Snyder would fire a veteran head coach after ONE season, right?

Ugh. I feel sick.

If we take ONE thing from the spread, we could switch our base setup to the shotgun. That might actually solve a few problems. Everything else in the spread pretty much relies on pure speed. We don't need a creative, innovative offense in Washington, we need an offense that executes to the maximum of their ability.

Steve Spurrier brought a creative, innovative offense to D.C., so excuse me if I say (even as a UF grad), that I never want to see a Gator offense in this city again.

I hear you. I'd rather not see Tebow here, either. Creativity and innovation isn't a bad thing, as long as the one bringing it here knows what he's doing. Shanahan fits that bill.

One thing I think we can agree on, is that stagnant, predictable offense is gone with our new coach.

Just wanted to say that looking at the new banner....wow. A picture is worth a thousand words isn't it? Just looking at it gives me more of a sense of pride about this team than I've had in a long time. Now when I see Vinny's face I feel a sense of ridicule. The banner evokes a sense of power. Maybe I'm getting carried away, but it really feels like we've "stepped into the light". When's our next game?

I could do without Snyder up there... especially since he's supposedly stepping out of the spotlight and into the background.

Yeah I understand. But for Danny it kind of says, "I get it".

Re: Thoughts of a Broncos Fan

If we think about it Zorn's major problem was that he was not good at playcalling and he was predictable etc. and Joe Gibbs' major criticism was that he was running an offense that was too old/slow for the NFL etc. That means for the past 5 years or so we have not had a "creative" offense...I think that was one of the major reasons for bringing in Shanahan and he spoke a lot about it in his press conference too i.e. seeing what other offenses are doing, tweaking his system etc.

I agree rbanerjee. In fact I would take it a step farther as someone has posted we were the 3rd worse offense in the last 10 years. I think Shanny will get our "O" to a place in hasn't been in awhile, and that has been our biggest problem for years. Congrats on your 500th post.
