Its not that fricking hard to switch defenses. Especially for an athletic player like MacIntosh or blades.

Give Haslett and Shanahan a shot. Plus, I really think our base defense will become a Hybrid of the two anyway, where the personnell on the field doesnt necessarily change, but they move and shift around alot, blitzing from different spot, and lining up differently on each play. I actually dig the idea, but when dealing with this hybrid, a straight up 3-4 LB is not one we necessarily need. We need young talent that can be coached up, and learn this hybrid. This new defense could become the new big thing, or, the defensive "WildCat" if you would.

I never said anything about trading anyone. You honestly can't expect a player, who has never played in a 3-4 defense, to be able to transition, without any problems, just because they're being "coached", just ask Aaron Kampman or Andre Carter about trying to transition to a 3-4. Saying that it's not hard to switch defenses is an extremely ignorant thing to say, it takes some teams years to get the right pieces in place to fully transition to a 3-4.

I agree that our defense, this year, will be somewhat of a hybrid, but to call it a "new" defense or something that has never been seen before is a mistake. Haslett isn't going to come up with some new, innnovative defense that no one in this league has ever seen before.

Your two arguements were both DE's chaging to an OLB position. Rocky and Blades are linebackers who will have to learn much less and in Blade's situation hardly anything at all except for more help on the inside.
