Re: Redskins vs. Packers - POSITIVES!!

If he had tried a spin right before going out of bounds he might've been able to stay in bounds and head for the end zone. McNabb's throw led him out of bounds though and it's just a minor gripe because in the end he caught the ball. I'd like to start seeing more bombs go for touchdowns too because in the end sometimes we don't convert them to td's, but that comes with timing, and McNabb and his receivers are still getting a feel for each other. It's going to take a while to build that.

I dont know what CBs impress you then...Charles Woodson? He got made to look like a b*tch most of the day. Macklin and Jackson, shut down...Jennings and Driver (IMO better than the Philly Kids), shut down. Your not impressed?

Sounds like from your comments its more scheme than play, Haslett has them playing deep

I've seen it a few times, it's not like he's got to drag his feet to stay in on that play. It's not a huge issue for me, I just would have liked to see a little more effort. The throw did lead him out, but it looked he took about 3 steps before he got there, if he didn't I know he didn't have to break his stride to stay in, which makes me think, he should have tried to make a cut.

We are still the second worst passing defense this year. It is the scheme and perhaps the players getting use to it. The front 7 needs to do a better job too.

There were so many plays that set them up for the win. Landry's INT, Cooley's 30-yard catch, and Gano's coolness. Alexander and Wilson made a lot of plays beforehand. Moore is a pure coverage FS.

Game Balls, Gassers and Observations: Redskins 16, Packers 13 (OT) - Redskins Journal

Campbell does a nice job with these weekly breakdowns.

Don't agree on the Jarmon "helmet to helmet" though. I've seen the replay a half dozen times now and I don't see where he led with the helmet, at least not to the degree where it should have been flagged. Did anyone see it that can point it out to me?? Maybe a different angle would help, I've only see the replay from the endzone cam.

I'm with you, I thought that Jarmon did everything possible to avoid any kind of helmet-to-helmet or roughing penalty. I was impressed by Jarmon's discipline, in fact.

Re: Redskins vs. Packers - POSITIVES!!

I said at the beginning of the season I thought the Redskins would have one of the better secondaries in the league and I still stand by that. I think if you look at stats alone, you'd probably come away with the only logical conclusion that we suck. But if you look at individual play, which has been even for the most part save a few plays, the physical play across the board (remember it was Hall and Moore that knocked Vick out, not Landry), we've shut down some notable WR tandems so far, and we're doing well in the turnover category.

Also, Kareem Moore has quitely (or not so quietly) asserted himself as the unquestioned starter at safety. No doubt, he's an upgrade over Horton and Doughty.

I voted Landry, but TBH, I didn't see a game ball at all last night.
