Re: Andy Reid or Mike Shanahan? Eagles President takes shot at Shanny
Reid is a solid coach but the inability for him to run the ball has killed them in the past especially in big games.. Shanahan has won 2 SBs yeah he had elway but in all fairness 7 didn't win a title before shanny. I'd take mike over Andy anyday

Re: Andy Reid or Mike Shanahan? Eagles President takes shot at Shanny
To me this sums up Mike Shanahan year one. He came in and changed a defense around cause HE thinks it would cause more turnovers. Fail 1. I saw a coach who let his son run the offense when he's suppose to be one of the best playcallers. Fail 2. I saw a coach who did a piss poor job communicating with the players. Fail 3. I saw a coach who made some bad personel moves. Fail 4. I saw a coach who let scrubs like Joey Galloway and Roydell Williams play. Fail 5.

1 - Shanahan switched to 3-4 hybrid because he felt it offered more in terms of turnovers we won at least 2 games (dallas and chicago specifically) due to turnovers. And if the change was going to take place better to do it and see who can adapt and who can't. 2 - Kyle Shanahan was the OC and had done a good job in Houston as playcaller. If MS was interfering with KS people would have criticized him for that. 3 - Actually a lot of the blue collar (non-diva) players constantly said how MS was doing a great job laying out the rules and expectations clearly. 4 - yeah and he made some good ones too. You take the good with the bad. 5 - I saw a coach who let young talent sit and learn behind established professionals until he thought they were ready to take the field based on their practice and work ethic. Bottomline I give him a C this year, but the important measure will be how the team responds and plays next year. |

Re: Andy Reid or Mike Shanahan? Eagles President takes shot at Shanny
"Established professionals" is the most BS excuse ever, especially with regards to vet starters. If anything, backup players are better mentors than has-been stars who haven't taken a bit of humble pie.
McNabb is the master of doublespeak. Almost everything he says, he means the opposite. Galloway? Leader, mentor, or just the go route one-trick pony? Kemo: Done like a burnt pizza yet the whole coaching staff was taken in by his mirage? What the hell? LJ: Gave mediocre effort against scrubs yet that was good enough to merit a roster spot? Just admit that he's another Ron Dayne Shanahan brought in.

The defense may have caused more turnovers but it was a piss poor until that couldn't adjust and had guys playing out of position. We'll see how it shakes out next year.

He did a piss poor job of communicating with the players?
I can think of two out of 53 who would say that? AND if that is who we're talking about? Big, deserves much worse than that... Dm could have been handled more tactfully....but he does...thrive in that Butt Hurt role does he not?

I counting the superbowls only as the headcoach. If I counted that way then I would also count the superbowls for Shanny in San Fran.

Re: Andy Reid or Mike Shanahan? Eagles President takes shot at Shanny
For a Redskins fan, this will become relevant when Shanahan starts winning. I know this team is a huge challenge for anyone and it is a pretty uphill battle for Shanahan. It is great that Shanahan won 2 SBs and had success in Denver, but that won't mean squat if we end up having poor to mediocre seasons in Washington.

I see a coaching staff that made some mistakes, yeah, but I also saw a coaching staff who came in and has established some discipline. I didn't like how Shanny handled the situation with McNabb, but overall, I believe the team is in the right direction. And, before you say anything about Kansas City turning things around in one year, there is a big difference. That team was a much younger team and it was Matt Cassel's second year in KC.
