No surprise. Tortis was a great back for us, but the antics gotta little old at times. We may miss Tortis's blocking now and then, but we got a great group in camp and I look forword to see our running backs being able to actually run.

I mean he wasn't the fastest guy in the world...but it's a bit extreme to play on his last name and imply he was slow as a tortoise...pretty clever word play there though

I cannot help but feel bad for CP even though he has done this to himself. In general.....he did the Skins right. YES he could be a pain in the ass in a few area's. He did enough to be #2 of all time.
I would like to see him go out triumphantly rather than in failure.....so I hope this spins right for him.

^^^ He was very fast early in his career in Denver. He looked a lot like Helu looks now.

Did Tortis dye he hair and goatee blonde again? I remember that picture floating around where he looked like a back up singer for Boy George. Thats the kinda focus Tortis brought to camp a couple years ago. Id really like to see him in a Pats uniform walking through the holes that good oline opens for him.

I said, as well as GTripp I think, that Portis would be a good fit in NE. Belicheck loves the old vets that he can play in specialized roles. CP still could play as a 3rd down back if he gets himself together.

He talked about proving the skins wrong, but I bet he really was hoping the lockout lasted longer.

exactly, portis is one of the guys that just has "it" the problem was he didn't have the drive to be the best he just wanted to be the best, if that makes any sense. and if you don't work to stay in the game like fletcher has then eventually your body just can't keep up anymore, no matter how bad you want it.

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong

I think the two plays from last year in which it appeared he slid to avoid a hit spelled doom for his career. Somewhere on the web some fans, like Pats fans maybe, are using our old line - "vet minimum" when speaking of CP.
