Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
I say the Browns, because the fan base is pointing the finger directly at management for letting RG3 basically slip away, even though they had more firepower (more picks and Better picks) than we did.
If they continue losing, I see alot of the fanbase getting fed up with that squad, if they arent already. |

No, but I bet you are. As soon as I heard about the trade, I set about convincing myself of the "glass half full" mentality, which was fairly easy. I'd rather they pull a big gamble like this than settle for a combo of a retread like Orton and a second rate rookie like Cousins.

From a Coaching and Player perspective, its Shannahan and RG3 for sure. All in on RG3. I will say this though, with the new CBA the financial risk for a RG3 is zilch, nada which is vastly differently from completing a trade like this a couple years ago. If RG3 fails, your not completely handcuffed by the picks and the money. Rams have little pressure because of the fan base isnt as crazy as the Browns or Skins and they have multiple picks to share the blame, but with RG3 its just one guy (if things go south).

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Good point. Its kind of like they have the 4th pick in the draft after the two superstar QBs are off the board. They have a QB in place. But I wouldnt say that they have NO pressure, just not as much as the skins or browns. That being said, the skins play in a far tougher division, and every QB in the division is in the top half of the league in efficiency barring the skins and their rookie. The skins have a solid core around RG3, and with a few key FA pickups, I really dont see why we cannot challenge for the division title THIS year. Not having a turnover machine at the QB position and a defense with more experience can only improve the bottom line. I have faith that Shanahan will continue to make solid acquisitions during FA, and mold us into a SB contender not this season maybe, but definitely next year. As I am saying all this, I feel a sugar rush from all the koolaid Im chugging, let me take a seat for a minute!!!

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
So if in 2015 they are coming off of a 5-11 season and 2 of their first rounders are busts that's still a win? What responsibility or even expectation do they have to turn this 'bounty' into a contender?

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Just to be clear everyone...
The last 2 guys picked 6th in the 2nd Round were: Ryan Williams - RB - Arizona TJ Ward - S - Cleveland Future Hall of Famers, right? Also... how about these All-Pros selected in the top 10 of the 1st round from 2008 & 2009?: '09 - Tyson Jackson - 1,3 - KC '09 - Aaron Curry - 1,4 - Seattle (since traded due to lack of productivity) '08 - Vernon Gholston - 1,6 - NYJ '08 - Derrick Harvey - 1,8 - Jax (they released him in 2011) .... Point is... why does everyone have to talk about the 3 picks we gave up as automatic All-Pro Hall of Fame talent?? Is there a good chance we gave up 3 NFL regulars?? Maybe... But sheesh. How come it seems like everyone forgets that 1st & 2nd round picks are not "locks"... until they are talking about RGIII himself? It irritates me... just saying.

But the Griffin gamble to me is not "big" - it's "enormous," even "historic." It makes the Eli Manning trade look small.

Precisely. In order for the Rams to "lose" in this trade RGIII must win a SB w/ the Redskins and Bradford never win them the big one. If both teams never reach the big game Rams come out ahead simply because they garnered substantial youth from the trade.

Since its spread out over three years I doubt they will feel any pressure for quite a while.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
I actually just found out that RG3's number 1 deep threat, Kendall Wright ran a 4.61 at the combine at 5'10. I can only imagine what this guy could do with someone like Vincent Jackson.

4.6 in the 40 is a bit slow in my opinion. Griffin, without a doubt, will be able to get the ball down field to receivers with speed.
