In one last desperate attempt to believe this kid and also to believe that he wasnt the most naive person on the planet....is it possible that he did have a four year relationship with an online girl and just exxagerated the extent of it. In other words, he never intended to pursue more than a simple online thingy, but wanted to be one of the guys so bad that he made it out to be a bit more serious than it was?
Edit: all the lies about meeting her n the funeral , etc were just a vain attempt to beef up a so called relationship because he didnt want all his friends that were dating the hot chicks on campus to know he was a virgin who was afraid to talk to women? I mean he does come across as the type of guy who would save himself for his wedding nite.
What if he wasnt naive or a liar? What if he was just trying to be one of the guys and it snowballed completely out of control?
