Re: QB Class gets weaker
I agree. McCoy IMO has Heath Shuler written all over him. Mallett looks like a slow version of Drew Bledsoe.

Re: QB Class gets weaker
This QB class is bad at best. I say we pass on drafting a qb on the first day.

Re: QB Class gets weaker
interesting thread but i still feel that this is a deep draft class at qb and there are a few guys who could pan out and be very good qb's, but i definitley don't want one in the first round

Re: QB Class gets weaker
We're going to have two Colts under center!!! A gun slinger (Brennan) and a sharp shooter (McCoy)!

We have a coach now that has a great track record in developing QB's. I say if he sees one he likes at the fourth spot we should take him....er support him for taking said player.

Re: QB Class gets weaker
I don't want Snead unless we get him in the fourth round, because he throws way to many picks. 4 against Oklahoma state and 5 against alabama. He's definitley not a 1st or second round pick IMO

Also Shanahan has a great track record developing QB's? Like John Elway and Steve Young? They were both fully developed Hall of Famers before he even started working with them. Who did he develop? Maybe Jake Plummer. Kind of. Jay Cutler? See what I mean. I hope we don't reach on a QB, but if we do pick a QB in the first round I will be hopeful that they really do see someone with that "it" factor which I have no doubt Shanahan should be able to recognize. |

Re: QB Class gets weaker
The QB class just got stronger. Jevan Snead declared himself eligable for the draft. Maybe worth taking in the second or third.

Re: QB Class gets weaker
I ran some quick correlations on that sack rate data using some of my comparables, and I found that the higher the level of competition a guy faces in college, the more likely that his college sack rate is predictive in the NFL. There are always exceptions (Russell: 5.6% at LSU, 9.7% in NFL), but that bodes well for guys like Bradford and Robinson, poorly for guys like Clausen and Brown, and says basically nothing about Dan LeFevour and John Skelton.
